All morning we spent cutting 3 trees off the road.  All three were leaners over the road.  The first one was broken kind of high up on the trunk to cut. So we pulled that one down with the truck and cut it up.  Then the next one looked like it could fall anytime, so we thought we better get it before our shift change gets blocked by this tree.  Well, this one proved to be much tougher than it appeared.  We tried to pull it down, but could not.  We cut much of the split base and thought we had it several times but it still leaned over the road and would not come down.  It got to the point that it was too dangerous to cut on anymore so we decided to go get some proper straps and chains from the work boxes and came back and was able to pull a chain through the cut from a nice distance.  It came right down hard and then we were able to cut it up and carry all the parts off the road and out of the ditches.  Next we came to a pine that was there last week, but this week it had made the road almost impassible.  It was a little tricky, but nothing like what we just did.  It did take a while to clear all the pine branches and cut up the tree and carry all the parts far off the road.
Once we got to the site around 2:30pm, we finally got to do some trail work!  We actually made great progress roughing in trail.  It was too wet to do finishing work.  We moved a bunch of the rocks we uncovered while roughing in to build up where we were crossing over big tree roots.  Later when we are finishing trail, we will use any extra clay to cover the rocks.
